Tariq currently resides in Austin where he’s a student at the University of Texas at Austin. Tariq’s interest in investing began during his freshmen year upon reading Joel Greenblatt’s You Can Be A Stock Market Genius and Bejamin Graham’s classic The Intelligent Investor. Both of these books profoundly changed the way Tariq looked at investing and complimented his own natural contrarian streak. In addition, Tariq occasionally flirts with global macro investing a la Bruce Berkowitz / Julian Robertson.
Besides school and investing, Tariq reads newspapers and magazines daily in an almost religious fashion. In addition, he’s a regular concert goer and fan of the Texas Longhorns in addition to whatever team Thierry Henry is playing for at the moment.
